Horse Riding on Argentine/Chile Border

A full day of horse riding, an asado (BBQ-with never ending food) a bit of vino, hike to a waterfall and ride back down for the bumping van ride home. Two of the folks rode back up to stay in the "refuge" cabin for the night. Lots of excursions here. Skiing in the winter and many hiking, water, riding sports in the summer.

Bariloche, Patagonia, Argentina Feb. 2012

The lake region, glaciers, beautiful lakes (too look at, too cold to swim) carved into the foothills of the Andies. The snow caps are a bit grey from the Chilean ash, which continues to fall, we are right on the border. Our Anniversary/Valentines Day was spent on the fabulous boat "Modesta Victoria" built 1937 in Amsterdam, a full day of boating and walking in majestic forests.

Our Corner, Ritz Hostel, our juice man, and 9 de Jullio

This is our busy corner, 9 de Julio has 16 lanes across, for anyone who thinks making it across LSD is difficult, this is worse. As busy as it is when I see how relaxed someone can be, like our juice man, I'm reminded--it's all in the attitude.

Florida, Buenos Aires, SA Feb. 2012

After Iguazu and a jungle atmosphere, a new jungle came to be in Buenos Aires. We stayed in the city central on a very busy street, everytime we walked out there were police, and people selling. Then Robert got stuck in the elevator - twice--so we had to move. There seems to be a great deal of un-rest and theft is up from just two years ago when I stayed in the same place.

Iguazu

Iguazu was spectacular in every way, the view, the power, the experience of getting wet, walking into the falls, it was something very special. On the boarder of Brasil, Argentina, and Paraguay, a sub-tropical climate.

Tango

The Tango has to be the most beautiful example of dance, sexuality and anger ever combined. We went to a small professional show, but the street dancers are the best. The moves are spectacular.

Traveling

Travel realities, there is never enough room for all our belongings, it's nice to find places to keep things off the floor (bidet), we have a very fluid itinerary (page torn from calendar with many markings on it). The bus has been on the street since we have been here, it's like the movie "Lost in America" South American style.

Foreign Embassies in BsAs

There is an area called Embassy Row as in many Captital Cities, the home are spectacular and well protected from outside protests, which happen here often. the first building is the Haiti Embassy, guess these guys are not living in boxes on the street after the hurricane.

Floris Generica -Mechanical flower BsAs 2012

A walk in the park, next to the law university has a beautiful mechanical flower that open all day. "Floralis Generia" donated by Edwardo Catalano in 2002, the same year the Argentine financial world collapsed. May be the signficant is that the flower -- opens and closes -- has it's diffenent positions, like many things in life.

Beauty of Rio

The nature beauty of Rio is breathtaking, it is all built into the mountains. It's granite so mudslides are not so common--so we are told. Beautiful and busy.

Powerful image, done in 1912, and it almost makes me a believer.

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

The statue of Cristo- Jesus is right next to all the poor folks. What is wrong with this picture?
