The colors of the women's clothes are spectacular. This is a village mother in her festival best and her two daughters. The capital city of Chennai was know as Madras (remember the 60's Madras shirts and shorts of rainbow colors). The people have a high level of happiness.

That is the pleasant side of Chennai. The not so pleasant is that crows the size of small dogs caw constantly, one gets the sense of a bad omen; noticed no seagulls by the water, sure they have been eaten. The beeping of motor vehicles would put any NY cabbie to shame. All the canals are rancid with sewage.
